Who We Are

About God's Vision Ministries
On Sunday, November 7, 2004, Bishop Burnice and Evangelist Karen Green, along with a group of dedicated pioneers, founded God's Vision Ministries. From the beginning, they were aware of the trials and tribulations that lay ahead, but their unwavering faith kept them focused on God's greater purpose. By keeping God first and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide them, Bishop and Evangelist Green, along with the members of the church, have remained committed to lifting up the name of the Lord and spreading His message.

God's Vision Ministries initially shared a sanctuary with Bread of Life Ministries at 24 Seneca Avenue. Despite limited service times, God continued to bless their efforts, and in November 2005, the church moved to its current home at 694 Hudson Avenue. Under Bishop Green's leadership, the church has become a place of outreach, love, and education, dedicated to spiritual counseling and community involvement. With a steadfast belief that "Failure is not an option," God's Vision Ministries continues to grow and impact lives by following the vision that God has laid out.

Meet Our Bishop
Dr. Burnice B. Green, Sr.

Dr. Burnice B. Green, Sr. was born in Rochester, New York, to the late Burnice Green and Annie Ruth Green, and he is the second youngest of 15 children. He is the founder and pastor of God’s Vision Ministries on the northeast side of Rochester, New York. Burnice has been in education for over 32 years. In addition, as a pastor in this urban community, he continues to lead community efforts to support parents and all stakeholders to make a difference in children’s lives, expanding services and new program initiatives within urban schools in Upstate New York. He has worked extensively with young men of color for 20 years. Burnice is working and supporting young men of color to graduate from high school.

In 2004, Burnice was selected by his local newspaper, the Democrat and Chronicle, as one of the top 10 Emerging African-American Leaders in Western New York. In addition, he received the Distinguished Rochester Education Foundation Award for making a difference in the lives of people in his community. In 2013, Burnice received the distinguished award as the New York State Administrator of the Year and was selected to represent New York State at the National Board of Educational Administrators held in Washington, D.C. As a servant leader, Burnice, in 2016, received a special Mayoral Recognition Award for the highest achievement for unpaid community outreach volunteer service. In addition, in 2017, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by President Barack Obama for his lifelong commitment to building a stronger nation through volunteer work.

Burnice is currently the Assistant Principal at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School #9, overseeing a prestigious Boys Academy. He attended this school district as a child, from which he successfully graduated. Dr. Green attended SUNY Brockport College from 1988 to 1992 and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Communications in the year 1992. He continued his studies at SUNY Brockport from 1992-1995 and graduated with a Master of Science degree in 1995.

In 2010, Burnice became the founder of a distinguished male academy at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School No. 9. As a result of his work, he received The City of Rochester Black Heritage Pioneer for Education Award. The male academy promotes self-sufficiency, making good choices, empowering, and providing opportunities for males to be heard and understood. Through this work, Burnice continues to promote the importance of males of color graduating from high school and exposing this problem that faces the nation.
Burnice came to St. John Fisher College in the Summer of 2021 and began doctoral studies in the EdD Program in Executive Leadership. Dr. Green pursued his research in effective programs and support for high school graduation of boys of color and received the EdD degree in 2023.

Dr. Green hopes to leave a legacy for his family to stick together, look for the best in each other, and always support each other in times of need. For his community members, he hopes they are willing to serve and leave things in better condition than they found them. Finally, for the young men in his Boys Academy—understand the importance of educating yourselves—“You may have a reason, but it will not be an excuse.”
